My name is Craig Pearson and I’m proud to call Switzerland and Terra Nova my new home. From the first day I came to Terra Nova I loved how welcoming the school felt, I really felt at home here! I was impressed by how kind and considerate the children were but, moreover, how keen and enthusiastic they were to share their learning. What motivates me is helping to inspire learners to be confident and reflect on their own progress.
I qualified as a primary school teacher at the University of Northumbria before working in primary schools in Scotland for five years. I have a passion for literacy and enjoy teaching various genres of writing. I have been fortunate to have taken part in professional learning exploring reading and am enthusiastic in helping all children to enjoy their books. I also have a background in museum education as well as teaching English as a foreign language. In my own time I enjoy playing football, learning German, swimming and history.
I believe in learning collaboratively and encouraging team work. As John Hattie puts it “if you want to increase student academic achievement, give each student a friend.” A friend to be there to praise success and give feedback when times are tough. That is what I encourage in the classroom.
I joined Terra Nova in August 2019.
