Camp Day 1

At long last, we set off for our Terra Nova Summer Camp Week (grade 4-6) in Splügen! Spirits were high as we left Küsnacht on a beautiful, hot and sunny day.

When we arrived at the Viamalaschlucht (gorge), we split into small groups, were given a map and embarked on a treasure hunt around the impressive gorge. So exciting! In Splügen, the children could not wait to find their rooms and settle in.

After dinner, we did a quiz where the children had to find information and make a new QR code. We ended the day singing songs around a cosy camp fire!

What an incredible surprise for the Terra Nova teachers on “Teacher Appreciation Day”

Our students were so excited to place their flowers in different buckets for the teachers, creating magical, amazing bouquets that are as unique and one of a kind as each of our students!

The breakfast in the staff room…yum!!! Homemade Birchermüesli & Zopf, fruit with special decorations, fresh Gipfeli…a feast that lasted through lunch hour - and the personal messages for the team throughout the school building topped off the morning!

A very special thank you goes out to our PA for organising and helping make the day so special for all!

Grade 4 is currently learning about “News Reports”.

Luckily enough, they had a professional reporter visit the class to share a glimpse of the real reporter world! They were eager to learn everything about being a reporter, so they listed all their questions for her.

The reporter, with more than 25 years of experience in journalism, shared her stories and answered all of their questions! She showed them some of her work and explained the writing process, the different topics covered in reporting, what she likes about journalism, etc.

“Questioning” is one of the most important skills for being a good reporter. So, they got to play a game, where they had to think strategically about their questioning skills. We all had so much fun and the journalist's stories were definitely inspiring for the whole class.
