Primary school – for 6 to 12-year-olds

In the first years of school, from year 1 to year 6, we introduce, develop and build a solid foundation in basic academic skills such as writing and arithmetic. Teaching is individual and differentiated to ensure that it caters to all children, irrespective of their prior knowledge or pace of learning. No child should feel bored – and all children should not only understand the subject matter but internalise it as well.

In social studies and science, the children examine life’s big questions, exploring and discovering scientific phenomena, developing factual knowledge in diverse subject areas and expanding their general knowledge.

Language, mathematics, science and social studies instruction is split equally between High German and English and taught by native speakers. Generally, the language and teacher changes mid-week.

Music, crafts, drama, media and sports are taught by qualified professionals in German or English, depending on the teacher’s native language. French is introduced from year 5 and is also taught by a native speaker.
