Gianna Haines

I began my teaching journey as an educator in an independent Early Learning Centre in Melbourne, Australia, before relocating to Zürich two years ago to be closer to family. I bring five years of early childhood teaching experience, after having completed my Bachelors of Education (Early Years). During my two years in Zürich, I have taught at Pre-Kindergarten level and have also attended intensive German lessons.

I joined Terra Nova in August 2023, eager to introduce engaging play-based learning to the youngest students. I’m dedicated to tailoring the curriculum to the children’s individual needs, fostering authentic relationships, and nurturing a love for exploration. Nature holds a special place in my teaching—my rural upbringing in Australia ingrained the value of connecting with the land and its lessons. I am passionate about sharing this connection and finding new ways to engage and explore nature together.

Teaching in a bilingual environment is extremely rewarding; watching children’s confidence grow in expressing themselves and sharing in a new language brings daily joy.
